Shlomo Freund
Today, I have the pleasure of introducing you to Shlomo Freund. He lives a life most people would dream of — and helps so many folks along the way.

Read his interview carefully and see where you can emulate his genius. Enjoy and let me know what you think in the comments.

Give us a brief background of who you are for those that don’t know.

I’m an Israeli serial entrepreneur. My latest company is called Free Financial Self, where I helps expats eliminate money as a source of stress and gain confidence in their future finances. I traveled to 32 countries so far and he lived in China for 3 years as an expat.

Personal finances is a passion of mine since I was a child and because of that I decided to start Free Financial Self. I help others to achieve their desired lifestyle path and make their finances align with it.

We are location independent family, so we like to go on what we call ‘workations’. We travel with our 3.5 year old daughter every time for 1-3 months, one or two times a year. Since we work remotely we travel and work at the same time and able to do slow traveling and get to know a place.

In your current role, what do you help people achieve?

I help expats eliminate money as a source of stress and gain confidence in their future finances. How do you I that? I help people align their life and lifestyle goals with their finances.

How did you go about this career path?

I’m an entrepreneur for more than 15 years. I can’t help not being entrepreneur. So, I’ve learned over the years. Even when i did hold a day job, there was always a project or side gig going on in the background.

My previous company I built in Beijing. We decided to move there and see how life in China will be. The company is helping foreign apps distribute and promote their apps in the Chines market. When my partner took over the management of the company I had the time to open Free Financial Self which is dealing with personal finance of people.

For years, since I was little, I’ve been diving into this topic and am very passionate about. At some point I started to have conversations with family and friends about the topic and I discovered I really enjoy helping people with it. As I mentioned, after the China company didn’t need my active daily management, it was time to do something that I really liked.

Describe one or two moments in your life that shaped who you are today.

Landing in Beijing in December 2011 when it’s -15 Celsius. It started an amazing journey. Beijing is where I feel my entrepreneurship journey really took off. I led a meetup group of 1500+ entrepreneurs and became one of Beijing’s community leaders for the time. I made lots of connections and built relationships to last. My life thanks to this became very international, which I like very much.

The moment I decided that my wife is the right person for me. She agreed to go to China after 10 seconds thought. Now, it enable us to live the life that we really want for ourselves. Life choices are easier thanks to that decision.

What are aspiring and current entrepreneurs and freelancers missing when it comes to your area of expertise? How do you help bridge that gap?

Freelancers and entrepreneurs are suffering from inconsistent income flow. This causes stress and lack of confidence in their life.

What I do is helping them first understand where they want to go in life and according to this build a life plan going forward 25-30 years.

This creates confidence knowing where there are in life and where they are heading thus making them better professional as they are not busy as much with the money stress.

Regarding your core products and services, what can you tell us about it? Why should we care?

I now run a 1-on-1 mentoring program for people who want to align their lifestyle goals with their finances. I basically create a life plan for my clients and also teach them how to adjust it if needed. They then get the control over their life and finances. They now have the clarity of where they are in life and what they need to do to achieve their life and finances goals.

As the time of writing this, I’m about to launch a group online workshop. I took everything I’ve learned from working with my 1-on-1 clients and built it into a group workshop. The added benefit here, is that now there are more people you can learn from and also contribute your experience to the group. That’s something which is not possible on a 1-on-1 context.

During the 1-on-1 program and soon on the group online workshop (Name Spoiler: Financial Clarity Toolbox) people achieve:

– Understanding more about financial basics that can save them hundred of thousands of dollars, They learn to master those terms and use them in your favor.

– Design their future desired lifestyle.
– They are able to control their numbers.
– The will have a life plan for the next 20-30 years aligned with their finances.
– They learn how to change this plan in case of unexpected changes in life.

What is one resource (app, website, software, etc.) you use in your business that you haven’t shared with your audience and/or clients that we really should know about?

If you were just starting your business today, what would be the first 2 or 3 things you would do to market yourself and your product/service? What would you do differently today vs. what you did to begin yours previously?

– Learn to listen better to what the clients need.
